Strategic expansion brings Caliber's national network into Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Portsmouth, NH – August 31, 2026 – Focus Advisors, the leading M&A investment bank serving the automotive services aftermarket, announced it was the exclusive advisor to Key Collision in the sale of its ten-location New England collision repair platform to Caliber Collision. Following the transaction, Caliber's national network spans 44 states.
Key Collision operated independently but was affiliated with Key Auto Group, a New Hampshire-based dealer group. The collision business grew out of Key Auto Group's dealership network, starting in 1992 as a single body shop attached to one of the group's Portsmouth, NH, dealerships. It has since become New England's leading independent collision repair platform across three states: Maine (Portland), New Hampshire (Concord, Nashua, Portsmouth, Salem, Rochester, Manchester, and Keene), and Vermont (Colchester and South Burlington), reflecting a deliberate, market-by-market build-out alongside Key Auto Group's dealership growth.
"This deal is the final step in a disciplined buy-and-build strategy that began over 30 years ago – long before 'consolidation' was in the collision repair industry's vocabulary. The Key Collision team built something rare in this business — an independent, multi-state operation with processes and performance that rivals much larger operators," said John Walcher, EVP and Managing Director of Focus Advisors who led the deal. "The Northeast is one of the most active markets in the country, and Key Collision outperformed year after year."
The transaction is a vivid illustration of the demand from national consolidators for well-run, multi-location collision repair platforms in dense regional markets. Key Collision's broad insurance relationships, reputation for exceptional repair quality, and extensive footprint across northern New England made it a compelling acquisition target.
"Building Key Collision was never about adding locations — it was about building something our customers could count on for the long run," said Steve Titus, CFO of Key Collision. "Handing that off to a partner who will keep investing in these shops and our amazing teammates means everything to our leadership team."
"Key Collision is exactly the kind of business every M&A firm relishes to work with — visionary, growth-oriented, and sharply focused on execution," said Chris Lane, President and Managing Partner of Focus Advisors. "We feel extremely proud they selected us to represent them. This acquisition by Caliber reinforces a real appetite for operators who combine strong fundamentals with sustained growth."
"When I got to Key, we were a handful of shops in one state. Our business expanded every year since and we were able to do so because we never outgrew the way we treat each other," said John Stolz, COO of Key Collision.
